La Belle Province was ready to rock Saturday but the New York Rangers had other plans. Habs goalie, Carey Price, was roughed up for 4 goals and a leg injury. The blue shirts didn’t stop and potted another 3. Game 2 will have to be vastly different if “Canada’s team” wants to keep playing. The catch is, Carey Price won’t be part of their plans.
The Montreal Canadiens have been on quite a run this spring and the Rangers didnt seem to care. They too have been proving this year is no joke. The Habs have a solid group and can ask for help on any kine or defensive pairing but after one game, they looked pedestrian. The loss of Price was confirmed Monday morning so the pipes belong to Peter Budaj.
Hopefully Habs fans cherished the picture above of Mr. Roy because there is a good chance they will have to wait another year….wait. Have we written Budaj off already? Thats ridiculous! Well, not entirely. Budaj had a great start to his NHL career but has basically played second fiddle for the past few years. If the Canadiens play to their shown potential, this series is far from over. Budaj isn’t terrible and could very possibly keep his team in this.
If I’m the Rangers though, its time to tighten the noose and choke out Montreal. The Rangers are on a roll and they can punch their ticket if King Henrik (Lundqvist) continues his stellar play.
Well Montreal, it’s been real. Time to come back to reality.
